Bearings are used to fix and reduce the friction coefficient of load during mechanical transmission. It can also be said that when other mechanical parts move relative to each other on the shaft, they are used to reduce the coefficient of friction during power transmission and keep the shaft center position fixed. Bearings are a pivotal component in contemporary machinery and equipment. Its main function is to support the mechanical rotating body to reduce the friction coefficient of the mechanical load during the transmission of the equipment.

In terms of its function, it should be support, that is, it is used to support the shaft literally, but this is only part of its function. The essence of support is to bear radial loads. It can also be understood as it is used to fix the shaft. It is to fix the shaft so that it can only achieve rotation, while controlling its axial and radial movement. The consequence of the motor without bearings is that it cannot work at all. Because the shaft may move in any direction, and the motor is required to only rotate when it is working. Theoretically speaking, it is impossible to achieve the role of transmission. Not only that, the bearing will also affect the transmission. In order to reduce this impact, good lubrication must be achieved on the bearings of the high-speed shaft. Most bearings must have lubricating oil. When the load is running at high speed, friction will not only increase energy consumption, but more terribly, it is easy to damage the bearings. The idea of turning sliding friction into rolling friction is one-sided, because there is something called sliding bearings.

Bearing installation method

The installation method of the bearing differs depending on the bearing type and matching conditions.

Since most shafts rotate, the inner ring and the outer ring can adopt interference fit and clearance fit respectively, and when the outer ring rotates, the outer ring adopts interference fit.

  (1) Press-in installation

Press-in installation generally uses a press, but also can use bolts (composition: head and screw) and nuts, if necessary, use a hand hammer to install.

  (2) Hot sleeve installation

The heat sleeve method of heating the bearing in oil to expand it and then installing it on the shaft can avoid unnecessary external force on the bearing and complete the installation in a short time.

Common error

Bearing wear is a common equipment problem in the course of bearing use, mainly caused by the metal characteristics of the bearing: although the metal has high hardness, it has poor concession (not recoverable after deformation), poor impact resistance, and poor fatigue resistance, so it is easy Cause adhesive wear, abrasive wear, fatigue wear, fretting wear, etc. Most of the bearing wear is not easy to detect. Only when the machine has high temperature, large beating amplitude, abnormal noise, etc., can it be noticed. However, when people find out, most of the bearings have worn out, causing the machine to stop.
